House of the Dragon: Olivia Cooke Takes Over as Alicent Hightower
Changes Afoot in Westeros
Olivia Cooke to Portray Queen Alicent in HBO's Hit Series
In a significant casting change for HBO's House of the Dragon, Olivia Cooke will now portray Queen Alicent Hightower from episode six onward. Emily Carey has previously played the role of the younger Alicent, who is a central character in the Game of Thrones prequel series.
Cooke, known for her roles in Bates Motel and Ready Player One, will bring her own interpretation to the character, who plays a pivotal role in the Targaryen civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons. Alicent's relationship with Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) and her influence on the kingdom will be a key focus of the series.
